About K&L Publishing

Our Mission

1
Connect readers to new writers

Midwestern and other underrepresented voices in literature waiting to be read.

2
Publish new fiction in blended genres

Speculative fiction that blends genres, often blending science fiction & fantasy.

3
Publish non-fiction with heart & soul

Human stories, guidance, advice, and thought-provoking real-world tales.

Our Philosophy

Writers are creators of whole worlds and invite our imaginations to visit and enjoy them.

Traditional publishing is a business venture full of complicated contracts and algorithms. K&L Publishing is dedicated to clear, creative-driven, author-centric publishing. We believe that the creators of the worlds we enjoy as readers deserve recognition, support, and compensation.

We love books! Personalized, customized support for each and every author we partner with brings the best of all of us, and allows us to bring new, exciting, very human stories to share with readers.

The signature K&L Publishing imprint was founded in 2013, when Liz Gubernatis decided to apply her ten years of editing and design experience to publishing great, undiscovered Midwestern authors of blended genre speculative fiction.

K&L Publishing debuted its first novel in December of 2013, and followed it with a free book of bonus materials on the anniversary of that publication in December of 2014. Two new authors joined K&L Publishing in 2014, and their series will both debut in 2015.
